PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Under general supervision, provide supervision for students and general clerical office support.

Shifts available: 6:30am-9:00am (10:00am on Mondays) or 3:30pm-6:30pm (or both)
Beginning Hourly Rate: $15.88/hr
This position is part-time and is not eligible for health insurance benefits.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

1. Ability to relate well with students. Understanding and ability to meet developmental needs of preschool and school age students.

2. Konwledge and skill in childcare/child development, including what students are capable of at different age levels.

3. Knowledge of safety and emergency procedures.

4. Knowledge of students' activities that will get the child to use both their skills and imagination.

5. Effective oral and written communication skills.

6. Ability to implement program activities as well as participate in those activities.

7. Ability to be on time and follow through with responsibilities.

8. Ability to serve as a positive role model for students.

9. Ability to anticipate problems and take preventative action.

10. Ability to create collaborative working environment.

11. Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, staff, teachers, and administration.

 

Education:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Certification/Licensure:

1. Current First Aid and CPR certification.

2. Current Mandatory Reporters of Child Abuse certification.

3. Current Bloodborne Pathogens certification.

4. Medication Administration certification.

 

Experience:

1. Six months - 1 year of childcare experience preferred.

  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Program procedures.

2. Assist in maintaining accurate records.

3. Assist team leaders or teachers while implementing activities during before/after school and/or preschool programs.

4. Attend weekly building staff meetings.

5. Attend monthly all-staff development meetings.

6. Collaborate with building team leader or preschool teachres to discuss lesson plans and how to properly implement them.

7. Develop positive relationships and communicate effectively with school staff, custodians, food service staff, teachers, principals, school secretaries, guidance counselors, and supervisors.

8. Greet parents and students on when they arrive and leave.

9. Provide parents with incident reports, newsletters, program changes or updates, upcoming events, and office contact information.

10. Maintain confidentiality of student records.

11. Maintain clean, sanitary, orderly, and safe environment.

12. Utilize space effectively to meet the needs of students.

13. Maintain appropriate child/staff ratios at all times.

14. Follow Food Safety/Sanitation guidelines when preparign and distributing snack.

15. Staff Development.

16. Communication.

17. Site Safety.

18. Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:

- None

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Satisfactory health as certified by a competent medical authority every three years.

- Requires eye/hand/arm coordination and dexterity of fingers and hands in keyboarding, calculating and fingering and grasping small objects normally weighing less than 10 lbs.

- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and related physical activity.

- Ability to work while standing, moving, and/or walking.

- Drug, tobacco, and alcohol free while working.

- Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.

- Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Majority of work is performed in an office or school setting.

- Occasional exposure to body fluids, fumes, noise, and hazardous materials and emergency situations.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

- At-will employee.

- 9 month position

- Per Board Policies and administrative guidlines.

- Performance evaluated annually.
