PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: An ELL Associate translates documents and interprets conversations from English to a student/family's first language and from a student/family's first language to English. Additional responsibilities include assisting teachers with working with ELL families, instructional groups, clerical, supervision, and other supportive duties.
7.5 hrs/day Beginning Hourly Rate: $19.44/hr This position is full-time during the school year and is eligible for health insurance benefits.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
1. Translate materials to and from English.
2. Interpret conversations to and from English.
3. Knowledge of different cultures and ability to share that knowledge with students and staff.
4. Interest and ability to work effectively with students who are learning English.
5. Ability to work effectively with parents, students, and staff.
6. Ability to become knowledgeable regarding classroom and building procedures and to apply that knowledge.
7. Ability to follow directions and work without close supervision.
8. Ability to maintain accurate student records as directed.
9. Good oral and written communication skills.
10. Ability to assist students with academic tasks.
11. Understanding of English language development.
12. Ability to utilize Google Suite tools (docs, sheets, forms).
Education:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2. Para educator certificate desired.
Experience:
1. Experience with translating and interpreting.
2. Successful experience working with students preferred.
Equipment:
1. Office equipment such as cell phone, multi-line phone system, fax machines, copiers, and computers.
2. Successful use of Google documents and sheets preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Translate written materials to and from English

3. Act as a liaison between the school district and English Learner families
4. Assist with daily classroom routines and supervision of students
5. Assist with individual students or groups as instructed
6. Maintain confidentiatlity
7. Use technology as needed
8. Assist in maintaining an orderly classroom
9. Administer individual tests from general education classroom as needed
10. Ability to collaborate with ESL and general education teachers
11. Ability to assist students with academic tasks
12. Perform other duties as assigned
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
- None
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Satisfactory health as certified by a competent medical authority upon hire.
- Repetitious bending, lifting, and hand movement.
- Ability to work while standing, moving and/or walking.
- Drug, tobacco, and alcohol-free while working.
- Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Majority of work is performed in an office or school setting.
- Some meetings outside the school day.
- Occasional exposure to body fluids, fumes, noise, and hazardous materials and emergency situations.
- Must be able to drive between sites.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
