IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Custodial Supervisor

 

RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Custodial Supervisor, Coordinator of Building & Grounds

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Maintain cleanliness of the school location and uphold a hygenic and sanitized environment to ensure safety of educational staff and students.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of effective and efficient cleaning procedures.

2. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

3. Knowledge of district custodial operations.

4. Knowledge of the fire drill regulations and procedures.

5. Knowledge of emergency procedures and problem solving.

6. Ability to lift 50 lbs.

7. Ability to follow written and visual instructions.

8. Ability to relate effectively with educational staff, students, parents, and the community.

9. Ability to use technology effectiely.

10. Basic knowledge of repair techniques.

 

Education:

1. High School diploma or equivalent required.

  

Experience:

1. Custodial experience preferred.

 

Equipment:

1. Cleaning equipment.
2. Vehicles.

3. Hand and power tools.

4. Snow removal equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

The following duties are normal for this position.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.

1. Cleaning designated area per the assigned daily schedule.

a. Clean and maintain floor.

b. Clean and sanitize all bathroom fixtures.

c. Clean and wash all glass surfaces.

d. Clean furniture.

e. Clean all whiteboards.

f. Provide trash removal.

2. Conduct ongoing maintenance.

a. Replace light bulbs.

b. Minor plumbing repairs.

c. Cleaning filters.

d. Replace ceiling tiles.

e. Touch up paint as needed.

f. Assist in keeping grounds free of rubbish.

g. Inspect assigned area to assure that all cleaning requirements are complete and that all building systems are working.

h. Report major repairs to supervisor via electronic work order process.

i. Maintain the facility in a condition of excellent cleanliness.

3. Ensure the building is securely locked each night and unlocked each morning.

4. Assist with snow removal as assigned.

5. Perform work necessary to prepare building for the next school year.

6. Maintain a positive rapport with students, staff, parents, and the community.

7. Assure all work is done in a safe manner.

8. Use technology to submit work orders, submit absences, and communicate.

 

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:

- None

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Repetitious bending, lifting, and hand movement.

- Capable of lifting 50 lbs.

- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work overhead.

- Ability to work standing and moving for long periods of time.

- Ability to work an irregular schedule.

- Drug, tobacco, and alcohol-free while working.

- Ability to withstand varying weather conditions.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Ability to work in extreme and/or inclement weather.

- Occasional exposure to body fluids, fumes, noise, hazardous materials, and emergency situations.

- Occupational hazards which might include the possibility of being exposed to noise, dusts, burns from chemicals, and possible strains from improper lifting.
